Summer Scrapbook

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while, I know.  Things have been pretty crazy over here, so blogging has been put on the back burner…that and I got a serious case of the blogging blues.

Anyway, if I were a scrapbooker, which I’m not (because I’m horrible at it) I would have a scrapbook excerpt that would look something like this:

What we’ve been doing this summer:

  • Graduations and a Blessing

Galen (brother-in-law, who I swear was ten only yesterday) & Cody both graduated.  Cody is Ash’s husband, who just finished his Bachelor’s in Accounting, I don’t have a pic of his graduation because I was lazy and didn’t use my camera, and LiLi was having a melt-down that day, so pics weren’t the number one priority.  It was a lot of fun to join in the celebrations.

My niece Gracie, Aidan & Raquel’s little angel was blessed as well.  She is so beautiful.  All it took was about two seconds of me holding her to fall completely head-over-heels.  They’ve been waiting for a little girl for a while, so Gracie coming is super exciting.  You can go to their blog to see more about the blessing.

  • Blueberry Muffin Mornings

I made these the other day, because it’s blueberry season. I love summer. I used to hate blueberries, until I went to Oregon a few years ago. We stopped by the grocery store and my mom handed me some trifle, which I devoured, and then asked what those amazing berries in it were. The answer? Blueberries.  Of course. Why is it that I hadn’t had decent blueberries until then? So tragic to be twenty something and never have experienced them. Don’t let this happen to you. Make some fresh jumbo blueberry muffins. They will make you dance and sing. I made some for LiLi, and she actually did dance and sing.  And so did I.  I’ll try and post the recipe later for these, if you’re all good and play nice. (And leave comments on my blog so I can kick those final blogger blues.)

  • Gardening

I have completely fallen in love with gardening.  Right now we’re in the process of building a fence around our veggie garden.  It’s wonderful that Don is such a handy.  I love that man.  I love my fence.  I love the fact that Lady can’t get in it and dig up my plants, or poop in my garden, or dig holes in it.  I don’t like Lady right now.  She’s a poo-head.  We have one all kinds of wonderful things in there, grape vines, raspberry bushes, tomato plants.  I’m a plant freak.  I’d rather spend money on plants then clothes or food.  Anyway, I bought LiLi a little plastic rake so that she could help me garden.  But all she really used it for was to chase Lady around the yard and beat her with it when I wasn’t looking.  As mad as I am at Lady, I figured no one deserved that.  So I put the rake where LiLi couldn’t reach it.  Apparently, Lady got her revenge, because the next day I found it, with a Lady-sized bite taken out of it.

  • LiLi’s Second Birthday

Can I just tell you how much I love this girl??  She is my heartbeat.  I can’t believe that she’s two already.  I try not to think about it, to be honest, because my throat starts to get tight and my eyes start to water.  She’s so much fun to be around, and a bundle of energy.  She’s also very literal.  For example, every time I sit down to eat, I’ll turn to her and say, “Let’s say prayer”, to which she’ll say in an excited voice, “prayer!!”  Then Don laughs, because he does the same thing too, just to tick me off.

The other day I was looking at something on the computer and holding LiLi in my lap, irked, I grumbled something like, “coupon code, my eye!”  LiLi, happy that she knew what I was talking about, then chirped, “eye!!”  and poked me in the eye with her chubby little finger.

I need to watch what I say.

And last but not least–

  • The Princess Festival

Thanksgiving Point had their 4th annual Princess Festival.  It was a blast, they had all kinds of plays and activities.  LiLi was a little bit young to do them but she did LOVE the Noah’s Ark fountain, and the hill that had a sign saying, “Run and Tumble”.  She went with her cousins, Madi, Brynnleigh, and  Jaden.  (Jaden had to go because no one would babysit him.)

So, now you’re caught up.  Whew.  If only I had a real scrapbook with all of these things in it…baby steps.

Enjoy your summer and 4th!!

Okay, so I know I’m blogging almost two weeks late about Easter.  You didn’t really expect it on time, did you??  My apologies to the grandmothers, since that’s who I’m blogging this for.  The real problem for me wasn’t finding motivation, but the fact that I took so many pictures over the Easter weekend that I didn’t know where to start.  I took pictures of LiLi’s Easter dress, an Easter party that Aubrey & her kids came down for, and then of course the big day itself. I went through, literally hundreds of pictures.

Easter is my favorite holiday, there’s just something about it…flowers come up, coats come off (hypothetically), and everything starts turning green.  I love it.  So it’s no surprise that I went a little overboard.  Besides, it’s the first year that LiLi could really enjoy egg hunting and the holiday.  I managed to finally pick out my favorite pictures, and share them with you.

We had such a fun Easter, I hope you all did, too!!

Musings: Denver Road Trip

Denver, CO  + Evan & Ashlee + italian sodas

- LiLi Bugs (thanks Momma Dona!) + shopping +

doing whatever the heck we wanted =

one of the best weekends ever.  period.

We’ve known Evan & Ashlee for more than five years now.  They were in the same singles ward as us before we got married, and after, they were in the same married student ward (since we both lived in Aggie Village).  If there’s one couple perfectly suited to Don & I it would be Evan & Ashlee.  Not only are they both fellow Engin-nerds, but they’re also some of the funnest, craziest people that we know.  They’re the kind-of people that are up for anything, and the kind-of friends where you can pick up where you left off, no matter how long it’s been.  Unfortunately once we all graduated the punks moved to Colorado.  Thus the road trip, Don & I go through withdrawals sometimes.
